St. Patty’s Day Mugshot: For Your Eyes Only
Sorry I missed last Friday; things got a little crazy around the Cheapest HQ. To make up for it, here’s a picture of my St. Patty’s Day look. I can’t get this eyeshadow to show up well in the photo, but it’s much more apparent in real life. I love this eyeliner, though.

Products used:
CQ Smooth Color Eyeshadow in Santa Fe
wet n wild Mega Liner in Turquoise
Cover Girl Professional All-In-One Waterproof Mascara in Black

I am noticing a disconnect between wet n wild’s website and the products they have in stores. I noted it when I reviewed their Mega Protein Mascara, and now I can’t even find this product on there. It’s not this, but it’s similar. Weird.
Anyway, on to the powder itself. I bought it to throw into my gym bag for use after I shower, but it’s been getting a lot of non-gym use, too. I took it with me when I went to the beach for a couple of days at the beginning of this week, and it’s handy to throw on when I’m in a hurry in the morning. The cardboard packaging is surprisingly sturdy, too, and comes with a little mirror inside.
I get decent coverage from this powder. It’s obviously not nearly as complete as my usual primer+liquid foundation+finishing powder combo, but it more than gets the job done. It lasts, too. I have to blot a couple of times over the course of the day, but I usually have to do that anyway. The powder itself needs no reapplications, though. It also matches my skin perfectly, with none of the orangeness I’ve noticed in earlier wet n wild foundations.
My only gripe is that it’s kind of drying on skin, but if I make sure I moisturize well before I put it on, it’s not an issue. If you have dryer skin, though, I’d take it into consideration before you buy this powder. If you’ve got oily or combination skin, you might love this.

wet n wild Mega Protein Mascara in Black 641
What: wet n wild Mega Protein Mascara in Black 641
Where: CVS
Price: $2.19

First off, the product pictured on the wet n wild page I linked to is not in the same packaging as the mascara I have. The name is the same, however, so I’m going to assume the formula is, too. The Mega Protein Mascara pictured on CVS’ website is the one I have.
I don’t have a whole lot to say about this. I grabbed it because I thought it would be nice to have a plain, black mascara without a lot of bells and whistles, and it was only two dollars. I did get a plain, black mascara, but it’s not as nice as I thought it would be. I’m not saying it’s noxious or anything; it goes on fine, and is completely unobjectionable for the first couple of hours that you wear it. After that, though, it’s Raccoon City. (I didn’t meant to make that a Resident Evil joke, but I guess a zombie would be just as appropriate as a raccoon for describing how this mascara makes you look.)
That’s right; this mascara has terrible staying power. It slides off onto your face, leaving black, smudgy circles and not in a good way. Save your two bucks and pass this one on by.

Friday Mugshot: At the Beach!
So, there’s not really much to my mugshot today, because I was late to class. Then I found out that the project that I thought was due Monday was due today! Then I decided that it was too nice and sunny a day to just hang around at home, so after class I drove down to Folly Beach. (It’s a nice beach, a little south of Charleston, that I had never heard of before I saw the sign on the highway today.) I took pictures, but I also killed the batteries on my camera. Fortunately for the Mugshot, I still had my phone:

Products used:
wet n wild Natural Wear Pressed Powder in Natural (I just bought this to put in my gym bag for after I shower, and I really like it so far.)
L’Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Mascara in Black Brown
Dr. Bronner’s Magic “All-One!” Peppermint Organic Lip Balm
So there you go. Definitely a light makeup day. What’s on your mug today?
