I am noticing a disconnect between wet n wild’s website and the products they have in stores. I noted it when I reviewed their Mega Protein Mascara, and now I can’t even find this product on there. It’s not this, but it’s similar. Weird.
Anyway, on to the powder itself. I bought it to throw into my gym bag for use after I shower, but it’s been getting a lot of non-gym use, too. I took it with me when I went to the beach for a couple of days at the beginning of this week, and it’s handy to throw on when I’m in a hurry in the morning. The cardboard packaging is surprisingly sturdy, too, and comes with a little mirror inside.
I get decent coverage from this powder. It’s obviously not nearly as complete as my usual primer+liquid foundation+finishing powder combo, but it more than gets the job done. It lasts, too. I have to blot a couple of times over the course of the day, but I usually have to do that anyway. The powder itself needs no reapplications, though. It also matches my skin perfectly, with none of the orangeness I’ve noticed in earlier wet n wild foundations.
My only gripe is that it’s kind of drying on skin, but if I make sure I moisturize well before I put it on, it’s not an issue. If you have dryer skin, though, I’d take it into consideration before you buy this powder. If you’ve got oily or combination skin, you might love this.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Dark Chocolate and Peppermint Lip Butter
What: Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Dark Chocolate and Peppermint Lip Butter
Where: Walgreens
Price: $2.99

I don’t usually like squeeze-tube lip balms. A lot of them are too greasy for me. Still, I love both Palmer’s cocoa butter and products that smell like dessert, so I bought a tube of their Lip Butter. I am glad I did. It’s very moisturizing, which is what I expected since cocoa butter is the second listed ingredient. However, it’s not greasy, which was a pleasant surprise. It had pretty average longevity, but it smells so good I don’t mind reapplying.
The scent is a delicious mix of chocolate and mint that smells just like the real thing. Fortunately, it doesn’t really taste like anything, because if it tasted like it smelled I would probably be eating it right out of the tube. Instead, I’m just going to enjoy the super-moisturization and the Andes mint-like smell, which is perfect for getting me into the holiday frame of mind. (Am I the only one who associates Andes mints with Christmastime?)
By the way, I have winter break after the fifteenth (exams start next week), so expect a more regular posting schedule for at least a few weeks.

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow
What: Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow
Where: Walgreens
Price: $2.89

I bought this way back in June, at the same time I bought the Sinful Colors polish in Neon Melon. I had the idea that I was going to compare the two yellows with one another, but I wound up overdosing on yellow before I had a chance to try the Xtreme Wear. That’s a pity, because it turns out this is a much more wearable polish.
This polish was easy to apply and was opaque after two coats. The thickness was not quite even and it probably could have benefited from a third coat. However, from what I hear, yellow polishes are often difficult like this, so three coats doesn’t sound that bad. The color is also surprisingly wearable. It’s not a harsh, neon yellow. It’s more of a warm daffodil yellow that went pretty well with a lot of my clothing and didn’t attract any weird looks.
The polish lasted four days before chipping, which isn’t bad at all. (I believe I’ve mentioned before how rough I am on my nails.) If you want a bit of brightness on your nails to counteract the season’s gloom, I recommend this nail polish.

L’Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Mascara in Black Brown
What: L’Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Mascara in Black Brown

This is a mineral makeup mascara. I didn’t realize anyone made those. When I think “mineral makeup” I usually think of powdered makeup, such as powder foundation, eyeshadow, and blush. This mascara is supposed to be gentle on the eyes, which I like the idea of.
Fortunately, an 86% natural ingredient list didn’t hamper the performance of this mascara. (“All natural” doesn’t always mean good, you know.) This mascara lengthens and thickens my lashes satisfactorily, though “Black Brown” is definitely more brown than black. I’m okay with that, though, because brown mascara looks more natural on me. It also lasts all day with no flaking or smudging but washes off easily. (I put it on this morning and just snapped that picture at 5 p.m.)
My only gripe with this mascara is that it feels like it takes forever to dry. I have to wait ages before I can blink or open my eyes all the way, or I get dots of mascara all underneath my brows. Once it’s dry, though, I’m quite happy with it. It makes me want to try some more L’Oreal mascaras.
