Carlo di Roma Nail Polish Liz in 010
What: Carlo di Roma Nail Polish Liz in 010
Where: Dollar Tree
Price: $1.00

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed a Carlo di Roma product, but I finally found a Dollar Tree in my area that sells the brand. I decided to give their nail polish a try, so I picked up a nude bottle of Nail Polish Liz. (Sounds more like a nickname you’d give to someone who really loved polish than a product name, doesn’t it?)
I had to go on their website to find the name of this nail polish, because as usual it’s not on the bottle. The color, 010, is on the bottle, but it’s covered up. The original polish label in French and Spanish is covered by an English label, at least in the US. The original label has the color on it, but the translated one doesn’t, so you have to hold the bottle up to the light to see it.
Labeling issues aside, this is a great polish. It’s sheer with two coats, but that works with a nude color. However, it shows up much better in real life than it does in the picture above. I lost the phone that had a good camera and the USB cable for my actual camera, so my photos are kind of low-quality at the moment. It was fairly opaque with three coats, but I would want to try it out in another color before vouching for its opacity.
It applied easily and dried quickly. It lasted almost a week last time I wore it before it started chipping, and the chipping wasn’t very noticeable for several days after that because of the color. I’m rough on my nails, too, so I rarely find polish that stays fully intact for more than a day or two. Right now, I’ve had it on for three days with no top coat and it hasn’t chipped yet. That’s a pleasant surprise for a polish that only cost a dollar.
Hurray for another CdR product that I love. (I can call them CdR, right? I feel like we’re so close now, since they keep making all this lovely, cheap makeup for me, that I can give them a nickname.)

California Nails Nail Clipper, Tweezers and Nail File set
What: California Nails Nail Clipper, Tweezers and Nail File set
Where: Dollar Tree
Price: $1.00

This set contains a nail clipper and emery board that are adorned with high heel silhouettes, and the tweezers come with a little, removable, rubber flower ring. They’re not particularly special as far as function goes, but they’re cute. The set doesn’t cost any more than plain, boring equivalents would, and everyone needs at least nail clippers, and probably tweezers, and emery boards are good to have, as well, so why not make them pretty?

Udderly Smooth Udder Cream
What: Udderly Smooth Udder Cream
Where: Dollar Tree
Price: $1.00 for 2 oz

I know that this stuff has been around for a while. I also know that the idea of using lotion meant for cows is a little odd and off-putting for some. However, I haven’t tried it out myself yet, so when I saw a bin of it at Dollar Tree I had to pick it up.
This stuff is awesome, and not nearly as thick as I was expecting. It’s more of a heavy-duty lotion than a full-on cream, if that makes any sense, but it works so well. My hands have been chapped and cracking for no good reason lately, but after several days of using this, the skin is soft and whole again.
I also have been putting it on after the shower, and it is excellent for dry legs. It’s even light enough to use on your face, though it’s borderline for the summer and would probably suit winter-dry faces better. Oh, and before I forget, the scent is light and sweet, but also fresh and not cloying at all. I feel like it smells slightly like something (probably a food, knowing me), but I can’t figure it out.
How did I not try this stuff sooner? On the other hand, since I waited all this time, I can scoop it up for a dollar. Like I said, awesome.

Carlo Di Roma Vintage Lip Liner
What: Carlo Di Roma Vintage Lip Liner
Where: Dollar Tree
Price: $1.00

Image from Carlo Di Roma.

I bought this lip liner at the same time as the Carlo Di Roma eyeshadow that I reviewed. This is a self-sharpening lip liner with a brush at the other end. You can either use it on the edges of your lips and pair it with a lipstick like any lip liner, or use the brush to spread the color over the entire lip.
The liner glides on smoothly. It spreads easily if you use the brush, as I did in the picture above. That picture doesn’t capture the actual color very well. It’s more of a sheer red-brown. This product is on the website, but not in their catalog, so I can’t find the names or numbers of this particular shade. I’m pretty sure there are at least three different colors of this lip liner.
This lip liner is long-lasting, too, and survived several drinks and couple of meals with no appreciable fading. It’s a bit drying to use as all-over color, but that’s a pretty common complaint with lip liners.
My only complaint is the limited range of colors. Aside from that, this is another excellent product from Carlo Di Roma.
