Boots No. 7 Natural Blush in Petal

I bought this because I evidently have been looking a little tired and wan lately, and people keep asking if I’m sick. I’m not sick, but I guess I’ll fake a rosy glow if it gets people to stop asking questions.
This is a very natural-looking blush; Petal is the exact shade of pink that my cheeks turn on their own. Blush is one of those things where one person’s perfect shade is another person’s clown makeup, so it’s hard to make a recommendation, but this is a worthwhile product. It’s hypoallergenic, not scented and stays in place all day. It applies easily but doesn’t pile on so quickly that you wind up looking sunburned or worse.
If you find a color to suit you (it also comes in Honey, Apricot, and Soft Damson), I definitely recommend this blush.

N.Y.C. Smooth Mineral Starter Kit in Basic Brown, Part 3
What: N.Y.C. Smooth Mineral Starter Kit in Basic Brown
Where: Walmart
Price: $9.99

Our last product from the N.Y.C. Smooth Mineral Starter Kit is the Smooth Mineral Loose Blush Powder in Almost Apricot. Unfortunately, I can’t really give this product a fair review because the starter kit sample was not in a good color for me. I said I’d review the whole kit, though, and by gum I’m going to do it!
N.Y.C. says that their blush is “suitable for all skin types and tones.” While it may indeed suit all skin types, as it’s a mineral blush and free of the usual sort of irritants, it does not suit all skin tones at all. Almost Apricot, the shade that comes in the starter kit, is way too dark for fair skin like mine. I think it would probably look good on olive or darker complexions, but it made me look badly sunburned. Even going over it with the finishing powder didn’t help.
It went on easily, and blended about as well as could be expected given the color mismatch. If it’s anything like the rest of this line, it won’t irritate the skin or cause breakouts at all, but I didn’t keep it on long enough to test that.
I’m kind of sad that this blush and I weren’t meant to be. It’s $6.99 for a full size, and I might try one of the other shades that N.Y.C. offers. I’ll probably wind up giving the sample I have to a friend. Who knows, maybe I’ll get a guest review out of it.

Physician’s Formula® Mineral Wear™ Talc-Free Mineral Loose Blush in Radiant Glow
What: Physician’s Formula® Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Loose Blush in Radiant Glow
Where: Big Lots
Price: $2.50

Guess what, everybody? I’m finally hopping on the mineral makeup bandwagon. I’m also trying Physician’s Formula for the first time, which is something I’d been meaning to do.
This blush is dispensed through its brush, which is my main problem with it. It is very easy to put on too much. I know I’m from the South, but even here we’re over that look. The brush also sheds like a cat.
The blush itself is fine. I like the color, and it goes on well once you get the hang of the brush. I’m not quite sure what makes it better than any other blush, but I’ll reserve judgment on mineral makeup until I’ve tried some more of it. (I have my eye on a couple of starter kits.)
Overall, this blush is handicapped by its shedding, awkward brush. That’s a pity, because I do really want to like it and I don’t.
